Why Don’t I?

This outfit was the outcome of a handful of  “why don’t I do that?” moments.

It all started with a post about a striped sweater over at See Anna Jane. I noticed that the sweater she was writing about was tucked into her jeans. I’ve seen sweaters tucked into skirts, and sweaters half tucked into jeans, but rarely do I see sweaters fully tucked into jeans. Is that just me?

Shirt: Banana Republic / Jeans: 7 For All Mankind / Belt: Express / Boots: Sam Edelman

I decided to give the look a shot. Granted I used a jersey shirt instead of a sweater, but I still got the same vibe.

It’s a 90’s jean advertisement vibe. Haha.

I’ve struggled with these boots for the last little while. I was so used to wearing bootcut jeans with them, that when I only had skinny jeans to choose from they sat unworn in my closet. Caroline at Unfancy did a post a while back on cuffing jeans with ankle boots. I read it and originally wrote it off as something I couldn’t pull off.

Fast forward to last week and I saw one of the younger librarians in town with cuffed skinny jeans over her booties. Suddenly it didn’t seem so out of reach.

I kinda like it.

Have you gone out on a limb and tried anything new lately?

  1. I cannot say I’ve ever tucked in a sweater but I will now that i see how great you look 🙂

This outfit looks great. I love boatnecks, but find it hard to find ones that don’t show bra straps. Agree that cuffing is the only way to go with booties!

Thanks Sylvie! I know what you mean about boatnecks and bra straps. If I find one I really like with that issue, I’m thinking I might just stitch an inch or so on either shoulder closed for now on.

Omg I LOVE this look!!! Your waist looks so itty bitty! My friend was wearing high-waisted jeans with a tucked in tee and a similar belt the other day and I thought it was super cute. Also, the only way I ever wear booties with jeans is cuffed!

I’m pretty happy with how the look turned out too! I might play around with this silhouette a little more this year 🙂
